Hi There!

Welcome to The Conscious Kitchen - St. Louis. We are thrilled you stopped by. This whole dream began roughly 4 years ago when my husband, Cody (pictured above with our two favorite taste-testers), began experiencing a host of mysterious symptoms. After nights full of wonderings and worry, we received the diagnosis of Celiac and Dairy Intolerant. This diagnosis put us in a sort of holding pattern as I had to relearn how to prepare food in a way that did not make him sick, yet ensure it was food he could still enjoy. We found that making meals was a rather smooth transition. We swapped out the allergens with ease and were back to enjoying meals as a family in no time. The piece that was missing for Cody you ask? Sweets. I hated watching as our daughters enjoyed a nice summer treat as we walked through the downtown area of our hometown. It pained me to watch him at parties surveying the food to decide what might be ‘safe’ with fear of cross-contamination looming on his face. We quickly learned he had very limited to no options at all. This set me off on my quest to adapt his old favorites to meet his new dietary restrictions. My goal was to restore that handsome smile to his face and provide unlimited options for him to enjoy - just like the rest of us.

After sharing our allergy-conscious treats (or ‘Cody-Safe’ as we originally referred to them) with friends and family, they were in disbelief that these treats were gluten-free and dairy-free. They noted our treats were full of flavor, the texture matched the traditional version of the treat and they simply couldn’t tell our treats were any different (other than the fact that Cody could enjoy them too!). This is how The Conscious Kitchen - St. Louis was born. We can’t wait to share our treats with you.
